One, Final, Smoke.

One, final, smoke. A little over two years ago, Mr Pappagiorgio started smoking for the most common reason, to relieve stress at work. I’ll admit, even until recently I still enjoyed them, but now, every smoke is getting more and more annoying. There are a few times here or there that I still enjoy a good smoke, for instance, while drinking, or just sitting out on the porch relaxing. Other than that though, its really becoming cumbersome and annoying. I’m super tired of hacking and coughing all the damn time because of cigarettes, and its time I went ahead and say goodbye. Tonight, I’m quiting cold turkey…

Now I will say I’m not a heavy smoker. I generally only smoke about a half a pack a day, and 90% or more of those are at work. I rarely smoke at home, and a lot of times I go the whole weekend without smoking more than a cig or two, sometimes, none at all. Its just finally weighing heavily on me. I’m 26 years old, I do have a weight problem as well (which I’ve been working recently, save that for another post someday), and I guess I just wanna live past 40. Being overweight plus smoking is just asking for a heart attack, so these two issues I am trying to nip in the bud while I still can.

So tonight, when my special lady comes home, I’ll smoke my final cigarette with her, and say good riddance. I’m looking forward to no longer being a smoker, and if you can believe, I was about as against smoking one could possibly be. Funny thing, life, never say never, and I’m not saying I’ll never smoke a cigarette again, but I’m certainly not going to be a regular or even casual smoker anymore. Time for Big Tobacco to get the hell out of my life!

Oh, and one more funny thing. It’s like big tobacco knows when people are thinking about quitting. I’ve been pondering the idea for about a week now, and in that week I got 3 different packages from KOOL including a sweet ashtray, and probably a combined 6 Buy 1 Get 1 free coupons, 2 straight up free pack coupons, and a bunch more saving various different amounts per pack and carton. Well, what better time than now to say to hell with it at all. Goodbye good riddance.

In a few hours I’ll will try to enjoy One, Final, Smoke.
