Mr. Pappagiorgio DOT COM

The nickname “Barons” seems to be picking up a lot of steam lately. At first, I didn’t like the sound of it, but when I really thought about what they were talking about it started to grow on me, and rather quickly. The name “Barons” refers to “Oil Barons” pulling from the history of Oklahoma City itself which was basically built from Oil money. Thinking of it this  way definitely makes sense to me, and the more I think about it, the more I like it. The name is simple, sounds cool, and some of the mockups floating around even look cool.

KMSooners28 over at OUInsider.com’s forum has some pretty slick mock ups.  (See Inside for more mock ups) Also, I think I saw on the boards somewhere that this guy works for the  Daily Oklahoman, which would explain why his images have been seen in the paper. I’ll be honest, I didn’t look into it, so I can’t say for sure if that’s true or not, but I did see one of these “Baron” Photoshops in a Daily Oklahoman article today where they were discussing team colors for the OKC’s new NBA team.

The proposed Color scheme for the Oklahoma Barons is Black, Gold, and White, and I think in the pics below, you can see just how slick and nice the possibilities are. If the colors, logo, and name are as cool as these mockups, I’ll be saving away for some merchandise for sure. Here are the Jersey Mockups,  click the images to view them larger.

The two red mockups on the bottom row look like they were earlier mockups before the idea for the black, white, and gold color scheme came about. Obviously the red and white is totally out of the question as the NBA OKC team will do what it can to distance itself from longtime #1 franchise of Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma Sooners. Rightly so, its our first pro team, and its needs its own unique name and colors, and these OKC Barons Mockups above are really well done and I just hope the final nickname and color scheme is as good as these.
