All new site overhaul! New Look, new functionality, same great experience! The site has been using the default worpress theme for far too long, and finally I settled on a nice layout and managed to skin it towards the same feel as we had before but with a new header. I hope you like the new look, and if you’ll read on, I’ll explain in depth about some of the new features on the site to make your reading easier and just overall a better experience.

Latest Posts Gallery. You can see in the example to the left, the brand new Latest posts Gallery. The Gallery will feature the 5 latest posts on the site with a large 16×9 format image, and also feature the name of the post and a brief description. If the post interests you, simply click in the middle of the picture of the post title itself to view it. Also, the image will rotate approximately every 10 seconds or so. but if you want to flip through all 5 latest posts quicker, you can use the arrows on either side of the image to flip through a little quicker. I think this feature will add a lot to the site in terms of a clean professional look, as well as give you some nice vivid pictures to look at as you peruse the latest posts.

Featured Video. This is another feature that I’m extremely happy about. On the top right hand corner of the page there is a featured video. This enables me to bring you a featured video every week, or more often if need be for that matter. For instance, last week with the sad news about Carlin, I’d have put up a Carlin video for everyone to enjoy. Currently there is a “WALL-E” Preview Trailer running, so you can check out a teaser of Pixars newest masterpiece, which is garnering raving reviews everywhere. I don’t think I’ve seen a review about Wall-E that hasn’t recieved 4 out of 4, or 5 out of 5 stars. Despite the media being horrible at rating movies, if all of them are picking it that it, its probably going to be worth the price of admission.

Category Tabber. This is another cool feature, the Category Tabber. Underneath your latest post Gallery, you have the new Category Tabber. As you can see there are tabs for every category on the site, and with the click of the mouse you can see what the latest posts are from each category by clicking on the corresponding tag for that category. This way you can keep up with the latest posts in each category even if it isn’t one of the latest 5 posts featured up in the gallery. The best thing is that it won’t load pages in between, you just click the tab and it changes right there inside the page without having to reload the whole page. Of course if you’re too lazy to do all that, you can just scroll down and see the latest post from each category below the tabber box.

So those are the three biggest features. I put up a new simple, but I think decently attractive banner for the page as well, and there are a few other things here or there that still need worked on, but the main stuff is now done, and I hope everyone likes the new design. Feedback is appreciated as well, because like I said, I’ll still be tweaking things here or there to make things even better. Also, the site is still currently Ad Free, aside from the entrecard widget, and I’m still contemplating on what to do about that. If I do work ads into the site, it will be in a way that won’t take away from the experience or content, but will still be available for times when those things peak ones interest.
