Home Run Derby Monday Night on ESPN 8pm ET
Major League Baseball is now officially on hiatus for a few days while the All Star game and festivities commence. Everyones favorate part of those festivities is generally the Home Run Derby, and it will take place Monday Night at 8pm ET on ESPN and ESPN HD. The only negative I can find about this years is that it won’t have the leagues leading HR Slugger, Ryan Howard, or defending Champ Vlad Guerrero. But, they have managed to assemble a pretty good group of hitters for this years slugout.
The Competitors are as follows from left to right, and season HR Totals for the season in parenthesis. (National League): Lance Berkman (22), Ryan Braun (23), Dan Uggla (23), and Chase Utley (25).
The Competitors are as follows from left to right, and season HR Totals for the season in parenthesis. (American League): Josh Hamilton (21), Evan Longoria (16), Justin Morneau (14), Grady Sizemore (23).
The National League Lineup definately looks stronger with all four competitors having slugged 22 or more homers in the first half of the 2008 season, but you can’t count the AL out Completely as Grady Sizemore can slug it with the best of them, and Josh Hamilton is having such an unbelievable year it seems like nothing can go wrong for the guy.
My Prediction for the event? I gotta go with Hamilton, the guy is batting the ball around like crazy this year, and although his new title of RBI Machine won’t help him here, it just seems like 2008 is his year. Chase Utley will finish a close second, followed by Grady Sizemore, and Dan Uggla.
Who do you got? Who’s going to jack the most balls outta the park and take home the 2008 title?
