A Gem in the Summer Show Season: Burn Notice

Summer TV watching is never as good as during the fall, winter, and spring when new TV shows are on every network, every single night. The summer is often filled with trashy reality shows, gimmicky game shows, and whatever other crap networks spew out for the season they don’t care much about. Over at USA Network, its a bit of a different story, and they have really hit a homerun with the Summer series “Burn Notice.”

Burn Notice stars Jeffrey Donovan as Michael Westen, an international spy who suddenly finds himself blacklisted. Dumped in his hometown of Miami without money or resources, Michael struggles to put his life back together and find out why he’s been burned. In the meantime, he uses his unique skills and training to help people in need, and in general people who can’t get help from the police.

There’s something intriguing about Jeffrey Donovan that will keep you watching once you check out your first episode. He has a great prescence on camera and excellent delivery which really holds the entire show together. He also does voice overs througout the episode that seem to just add so much more to the show than would otherwise be there. Often explaining the situations from the spies perspestive, and the reasoning in which he’s making the decisions he is and overall lays everything out for you in an entertaining way. The main cast is excellent and all work very well together.

So if you’re jonesing for a new show to watch and haven’t checked out Burn Notice on USA Network, tune in the next Thursday you get a chance, and I imagine you’ll be as entertained as I was. If you like, you can also check out the Season 1 DVD set, pictured on your right.
